About SSWCRD

Odisha is undoubtedly one of the richest state in India. But unfortunately majority of the people of this state are below poverty level. The majority of the population comprising of a large percentage of socially, economically, educationally and agriculturally backward people. Efforts are being made by the Government of Odisha and other bodies for the improvement of living conditions of the people but it has not been so effective. It is therefore left to the voluntary agencies and similar organizations (NGO’s) to create a social awareness in the people and to uproot the problem of poverty from Odia soil. One such person who has such type of mindset of removing poverty from Odisha is Mr. Akshaya Sahoo. During his periodical trips in the rural areas of Odisha connected with social work, he came across several poor people surviving in extremely harsh conditions. Moved by the unsatisfactory state in the living conditions of the poor people, Mr. Akshaya Sahoo determined to do something for their upliftment. For this purpose he along with some broad minded and talented persons took active steps to find a society by name, “SOCIETY FOR SOCIAL WELFARE CULTURAL AND RURAL DEVELOPMENT” in Odisha in the year 2013, with the specific purpose of promoting programs for creating awareness among people and developing the state. Having been brought up in a middle-class family in a poor village he was deeply moved when he saw the living conditions of poor people which later inspired him to create this organization. One of the several welfare activities taken up by the organization is rehabilitation of poor people by providing them free education, working for their economic developments, health and self – employment programs etc., for their sustainable development. We spread smiles and lend a helping hand to all those neglected by our society.
